2026.9

What's New:

  • Mid and post credit scene support. Now Playing, Live Activities, and Upcoming movies now show a badge indicating whether a movie has a mid credits scene, a post credits scene, or both. It also shows when a movie is confirmed to have none, or when it is still unknown.

  • Ability to duplicate a movie. Inspired by me buying way too many 70mm IMAX Odyssey tickets.

  • Long press a movie, auditorium, or theater row to pull up a context menu with several actions, including the duplicate option above.

Enhancements:

  • Support emails can now include an optional snapshot of your current settings and permissions, which makes diagnosing issues much quicker.

  • Restore now checks whether your local data is current with iCloud before proceeding. If there is a mismatch you will be warned and given suggestions on how to proceed. This helps minimize duplicated data.

  • New analog film format selector in the auditorium editor, for a cleaner experience.

  • When you select an analog film format for a movie, the audio selector is removed and the entry is saved as standard audio. This avoids entries like 70mm/Atmos. Even in an Atmos or other premium audio auditorium, analog film plays in standard audio. The app corrects previous entries on first launch.

  • When creating a theater, the chain no longer defaults to Other. If the name does not tell us the chain, you will be asked to pick one.

  • Auditoriums can now be assigned a custom aspect ratio, or derive one from height and width measurements, for screens that do not match a standard shape.

  • When linking a theater to a physical location, some specialty venues (a theater inside a museum, for example) would not appear, because the search only returned places tagged as movie theaters. A new toggle lets you search more broadly.

  • Renamed LED projection to Onyx LED.

  • An auditorium with no history but some upcoming movies now opens with its Upcoming list already expanded.

  • Movie rows now offer the same set of actions everywhere they appear, and most are available before the showtime rather than only after.

  • You can now delete a theater from the Screens tab or from the theater editor.

  • Cleaned up the Now Playing settings. The app's own switches could disagree with the system's, which was confusing. Live Activities are now controlled entirely in iOS Settings.

Bug Fixes:

  • Restoring a backup now updates your widgets, Live Activities, calendar, and Spotlight results right away, instead of waiting until you next edit a movie.

  • Restoring a backup now keeps your Manage Formats choices. Formats you had switched off could come back on.

  • Start Before Showtime now syncs between your devices. Setting it on one device left the others unchanged, with nothing on screen to say they disagreed.

  • Live Activities no longer switch themselves off after restoring a backup or moving to a new device.

  • The empty state text on a screen with no history no longer sits on top of the Upcoming rows.

  • Some work, such as syncing settings or creating and updating calendar events, could be delayed if the app was backgrounded right after a change. These now finish before the app suspends.

  • On the movie detail sheet, a long list of format specs could get cut off. It now wraps to multiple lines as needed.

  • Info bubbles now open above or below, whichever has room for the full contents. Previously they could cut off information when space was tight.

  • Fixed an issue with Live Activities on Apple Watch where the auditorium or seat could span over two lines.

2026.8.2

Hot Fix: Fixed an issue where attempting to link a location to a theater in the creation process to fail.

2026.8.1

Hot Fix: Fixed an issue where if your default theater was AMC and you use A-List the app would alert you to the need to clear the waived fee before allowing you to change the theater to one that belonged to another chain. This restores behavior that auto-clears that field when swapping chains without user intervention.

2026.8

What's New:

  • Live Activities: Off by default. Can be enabled in the Now Playing menu in Settings. Will show you movie, theater, auditorium, and seat info on your lock screen before the movie starts, along with the time the movie ends and how long until the end. Shows on Apple Watch as well.

  • Shortcuts Support: Now works with the Shortcuts app. Find and filter your movies by theater, format, rating, price, tags, and more, then build anything from an average ticket price report to an automation that logs a movie in the background. Your saved filters work there too.

  • Spotlight Search: Search from your Home Screen and your logged movies appear with their poster, showtime, theater, and even your seat.

  • Quicker Logging: Long press the app icon to jump into the Add Movie flow quickly, or add a button to Control Center or your Lock Screen.

  • Siri Support: Say "Log a movie in Reel Savings" or "Rate my last movie in Reel Savings" to try it out.

  • Calendar: Option to sync your movies to an iCloud calendar. Stays up to date with any changes you make to entries.

  • Theaters: Link a theater to its address. Used to give travel time alerts for the new calendar function.

  • Shake to Report: Shake your phone anywhere in the app to send a report. Contact Us can now attach diagnostics, and optionally a full backup of your library, so problems can be sorted out in one round trip.

Enhancements:

  • Auto Backup: Manual backups are now not included in the 20 backup limit, and remain unless manually deleted by the user.

  • Concessions: New field to add waived fees and have them fold into program savings. Intended for situations like the waived fees A-List offers for online concession ordering. Ticket booking fees work the same way, and fees waived at a theater no membership covers now show as their own line instead of quietly widening the gap in your totals.

  • Points Redemption: Added the ability to assign points from multiple programs towards additional ticket purchases.

  • Onboarding: Reworked onboarding that makes it easier for first time users to get setup and going.

  • A-List: Built in support for Classic membership tier.

  • Now Playing: In addition to being able to adjust the global trailer length, you can now set the trailer length the app uses to calculate end times on a chain by chain basis.

  • Sync: Expanded iCloud sync. Most settings besides theme, accent color, and icon now sync across devices.

  • How I Spend: Tap the How I Spend chart to see every category and amount, including the small ones too thin to label.

Bug Fixes:

  • Widgets: The widget was silently unavailable to anyone on iOS 18.0 through 18.5. It now installs on every supported version. On a fresh install posters would not show on widgets until a movie was added or edited. Widgets will now populate immediately.

  • Savings & Stats: Stat tiles and their breakdown popups disagreed on custom programs. Combined view double-counted companion waived fees, and leftover companion ticket info could inflate Total Value and Total Savings. Home now refreshes after points edits and after a membership renewal charge.

  • Custom Programs: Added protections from deleting a custom program. App will now block deletion if there are any rewards points attributed to it in addition to movie entries.

  • Entry Add/Edit: Changing an entry's theater to another chain is now blocked if it would strand rewards on a membership that doesn't work there.

  • Concession Programs: Save was permanently disabled when editing an existing program.

  • Backup & Restore: Saved filters are now carried through backup and restore.

  • Auditorium: Fixed an issue where PLF may flip back to standard projection when you edit the auditorium, and where toggling a format to or from IMAX left the aspect ratio stale.

  • Manual Entry: Fixed a bug that would cause the photo picker to instantly close when adding a poster to a manual entry.

2026.7.2

What's New:

  • Movie Posters: Pick a different poster for any movie. Open a movie and tap its poster, or swipe (or tap and hold) a movie in your list and choose Edit Poster, then choose from the available options. Your pick syncs across all of your devices and stays put.

  • Now Playing: You can now configure how early movies show up at the top of Home. You can also change how much buffer time is added to movies to calculate what time they end.

Enhancements:

  • Upcoming Movies: Movies you haven't watched yet now refresh their details automatically each week, so info like runtime stays current even if it wasn't final when you booked.

  • Support: The "Attach Diagnostic Logs" option in Contact Us now also includes app performance and crash reports, which makes rare slowdowns and crashes much easier for us to track down.

  • Performance: Faster filtering on large libraries, plus more launch and resume stability improvements.

Bug Fixes:

  • Theater Defaults: Fixed the "Save as theater defaults?" prompt, which could overwrite a theater's saved default format every time you logged a movie there.

2026.7.1

What's New:

  • Saved Filters: Save any filter setup by name and re-apply it in a single tap - from the top of the filter screen or the new iPad sidebar. Tap and hold a saved filter to rename, reorder, or delete it.

  • Filters: Every filter on the Movies tab is now multi-select: pick several theaters, formats, programs, etc. at once (great for grabbing all the theaters in one area). Added Auditorium, Seat, and Year filters and a "Standard" choice in the Projection and Audio sections for standard showings.

  • iPad and Mac: Redesigned Home into an adaptive dashboard that uses the full screen, plus a new sidebar for quickly browsing Theaters, Formats, your Saved Filters, and Settings.

  • Appearance: Movie, Theater, and Auditorium rows now have an added punch of color based on the movie poster. This can be disabled in Appearance settings.

  • Stat Tiles: See the breakdown behind many of the stat calculations. Just tap the value and a popup will appear that shows you what goes into the calculation.

Enhancements:

  • Filter Screen: The active filter now shows how many movies it covers (e.g., "Active Filters (4) · 23 movies · 3 Upcoming"). Filter chips stay on a single scrolling row instead of stacking, and sections with no matches under your current selection now gray out instead of disappearing - less jumping around.

  • Performance: Another batch of performance improvements that should make the app much more responsive on launch and resume.

  • Stub Rows: Movie, Theater, and Auditorium rows now have a small button to display related notes if you have made any.

  • Stub Rows: Rearranged the Theater and Auditorium stub rows to reduce the amount of vertical space they use.

  • UI: Big pass through the UI to make things more consistent across screens.

  • Backup Restore: Now supports restoring directly from a .zip file.

  • Auto Backup: Newer backups will have additional context: how many movies are included, what the last movie seen was, and what device type the backup was taken from.

  • Fee Updater: Convenience fees and subscription fee changes were previously updated on a 7 day cycle. They will now update at launch and any time a movie is added as needed.

Bug Fixes:

  • Delete Confirmation: Deleting a movie from the iPad tap-and-hold menu now asks for confirmation first.

  • Concessions: If a concession was fully purchased using rewards, it now counts toward your "how often you buy concessions" stat.

  • Widgets: Fixed an issue where the large widget may not scale well with various display sizes or display zoom settings.

2026.7

What's New:

  • Filters: Added Time of Day, Day of Week, Genre, and Your Ratings filters to the Movies tab.

  • Savings Gauge: 2 new savings gauge types: Return and Value. Tap the gauge to cycle or adjust from appearance settings.

  • Needs Attention: New helper that flags entries that may need a second look, starting with membership entries that have a missing or near-zero ticket value. Flagged entries show a warning on the movie stub and a callout in the detail view (with an option to ignore), plus a Needs Attention filter in the Movies tab. This is the helper mentioned in 2026.6.2 for finding entries affected by the cleared money-field issue. This may create a bit of lag on first launch of this version as the app checks each entry for issues.

Enhancements:

  • Performance: Large performance pass to reduce device heat, battery drain, and lag most noticeable when adding a big backlog of movies and when scrolling the Movies list.

  • Bill History: Charges are now grouped into collapsible sections by year.

  • Bulk Import: The CSV template now includes a Time Zone column and a Notes column.

  • Movie Details: In the detail view, savings lines (program-covered amount, rewards redeemed, fees saved, and concession discounts) now display as negative amounts.

  • Movie Entry: If the ticket value entered is under $1 the app will prompt to ensure correctness.

Bug Fixes:

  • Bulk Import: Future-dated showings no longer create subscription charges for future months.

  • Sync: Fixed an issue that may have prevented some entries from syncing to iCloud.

  • Saving Amounts: Fixed some issues that could cause savings values to report incorrectly in the case of Custom Programs being used alongside A-List at AMC theaters or extra tickets being booked using alternative programs, with A-List being used for the primary ticket.

2026.6.2

What’s New:

  • Movie Picker: Redesigned movie picker with a trending movies list to quickly add what's popular and a reworked search screen that is easier to use.

Enhancements:

  • Auto-backups: Improved auto-backup behavior for users that use multiple devices.

Bug Fixes:

  • Movie Entry: When editing a previous entry tapping on the money fields would clear the data for a fresh entry. Some flows could leave this value wiped.  Next version will have a helper to identify if you have any of these entries.

  • Bulk Import: Improvements in messaging to better inform the user of what did and did not import properly.

  • Backup Restore: Improvements in messaging to better inform the user of what did and did not restore properly.

  • Subscription & billing fixes: Fixed an error that could cause the app to suggest the wrong subscription amount when entering past movies that didn’t yet have a subscription charge associated with them.

2026.6.1

Bug Fixes:

• Bug Fixes: Small bug fix that could cause the app to freeze on iOS27 beta when accessing the home screens sub screens.

2026.6

Enhancements:

  • Screens: Added Movies Seen counter to each auditorium.

  • Screens: Reordered the display of information on the theater and auditorium rows slightly.

  • Movie Entry: Reworked the Secondary Formats screen. Projection and Audio formats are now a drop down. Loosened format restrictions.

  • Movie Tab: Stopped suppressing the display of some projection and audio types for certain formats. For example Dolby Cinema primary format suppressed the display of Vision and Atmos.

  • Movie Tab: Added a toggle in appearance settings to suppress the display of projection and audio formats on the movie stubs.

  • Movie Tab: If the runtime is not yet known, the movie will read Runtime Unknown instead of 0m.

  • Theater Defaults: Standard Projection defaults loosened to match the movie entry screen.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed some cases where data may not update on graphs and stats until the app is relaunched.

  • Changed display name of Barco HDR to HDR by Barco to match the brand.
